Sconiers Takes Home CAA Player of the Week Honors

RICHMOND, Va. -Â For the first time this season, the University of Delaware women's basketball senior center Klarke Sconiers was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week, announced by league officials Monday morning.
In Delaware's undefeated week (2-0), Sconiers averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 57.1 percent (12-21) from the field and 66.7 percent (6-9) from the free throw line. The Queens, N.Y. native kicked off the week at Elon (Jan. 13) by leading all scorers with 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-6 FT) while pulling down three rebounds and swatting away two shots in the 71-65 victory, which snapped Delaware's two-game skid. Sconiers followed with an 11-point and five-rebound performance to help the Blue Hens secure the 69-52 road win over North Carolina A&T (Jan. 15), snapping the Aggies six-game winning streak and handing them their first loss in CAA play. She added a pair of blocks and a pair of steals to her stat line.
On the season, Sconiers is averaging a team-leading 12.5 points and 1.6 blocks per contest to go along with grabbing 4.7 rebounds per game. She is also shooting a team-high 54.1 percent (79-146) from the field to go with knocking down an efficient 72.4 percent (42-58) from the free throw line. Among the conference leaders, Sconiers ranks t-3rd in blocks per game, 5th in blocks (25) and 9th in free throw percentage.
