Twinning: Sarah and Ashley Iannuzzi
Hailing from Roseland, N.J., the Iannuzzi twins enter their senior year as two-time CAA Field Hockey Champions. Academically, the twins are three-time selections of the NFHCA DI National Academic Team.
Sarah is majoring in Sport Management while Ashley is studying in Exercise Science. The duo attended the same high school, West Essex, where they both played field hockey, lacrosse and basketball.
Sarah has appeared in 35 games, nine this season, holding the back position, and Ashley has suited up for the Blue Hens in 42 games, nine this season, at the forward spot.

Q: Sarah, What is it like playing with your sister?
A: Honestly, it’s amazing. I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’ve been playing with each other for so long. We’ve been playing sports together since we were five and didn’t want to stop that. Being able to do that on a collegiate level is really cool and we connect really well on the field. I think it’s a plus for everyone.
Q: Ashley, how nice is it to play within driving distance of home?
A: It’s definitely really nice and have all of our supporters come and be able to come one the weekend and show up. Our parents and grandparents try to come to almost every game, so that’s really nice.
Q: Sarah, did you two always plan to attend the same college?
A: For field hockey we didn’t know if it was a possibility for us to play together or not, so we actually started looking at schools separately. Once coaches got to know us better, they found out we had a sibling. The coaches would ask us if we’d ever thought of playing together, and that’s what kind of put it into play. From then on, we began to look at schools together.
Q: Ashley, What’s the best thing about being a twin?
A: The best thing is having a built in best friend. Someone to go to all the time and the ability to share clothes.
Q: Sarah, why Delaware?
A: Delaware because of the family aspect. I think that’s what drew me here. The whole team is a family and really sticks to that. I love the campus. When I first stepped foot on campus I fell in love with it. I think this school has a great balance of athletics and academics.
Q: Ashley, why Delaware?
A: For me, what drew me to the school was the family aspect and successful athletics. Everyone is so proud to be wearing Delaware blue and gold. For my program that I am in for my major, exercise science, it’s a very well-known program.
