Brenda Lear starred for four years each in lacrosse and field hockey for the University of Delaware during a standout career in 1991-95.
She earned Collegiate Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American honors in both 1993 and 1994 and was a first team All-North Atlantic Conference selection as a midfielder in 1992 and 1993. A two-time all-region pick, she also earned a spot as a member of the U.S. Under 21 Field Hockey team.
Lear started all 74 games of her career and tallied 18 career assists, which ranked No. 2 in that category upon her graduation. She was a co-captain for the 1994 team that went 14-6 overall and captured the America East regular season title under UD Hall of Fame head coach Carol Miller.
In lacrosse, the Willow Grove, Pa. native and 1996 Delaware graduate was a four-year starter at midfield for the nationally-ranked Blue Hens and contributed 28 goals and 27 assists for her career.
She led the UD teams to national final Top 15 rankings in 1992, 1994, and 1995 and served as co-captain for the 1995 squad that finished as runner-up at the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament for National Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame head coach Denise Wescott.
