Field Hockey (1978-81)
Women’s Lacrosse (1979-82)
A star in two sports during her Delaware career in 1979-82, Elaine earned four letters in lacrosse and two in field hockey and played a key role for the Blue Hen lacrosse team during their runs to Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national titles in 1981 and 1982 under Hall of Fame head coach Janet Smith.
As a four-year standout in lacrosse, Elaine was a high-scoring attack who set school records for assists in a season and career. She also still ranks among Delaware’s all-time leaders in career goals (118) and points (195).
She was the team’s No. 2 leading scorer each of her first three seasons, contributing 50 points in 1979, 45 in 1980, and 54 in 1981, and ranked fourth with 46 points in 1982. She was named to the AIAW All-Tournament team in 1982.
In field hockey, Elaine was a standout goalkeeper over two seasons in 1980-81 for Hall of Fame head coach Mary Ann Hitchens, leading the team to a third place national finish at the AIAW championships in 1980. She recorded a school record 213 saves over two seasons.
Elaine earned her degree in computer science with a minor in mathematics from Delaware in 1982. She has been active in local youth lacrosse as a coach and official and is a member of the Potomac Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the Montgomery Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, and the Upper Merion High School Hall of Fame.
