EMILY M. ROME
Volleyball (1992-95)
One of the most decorated athletes in University of Delaware volleyball history, Emily earned numerous honors not only for her athletic exploits but for her work in the classroom.
A native of Chaska, Minn., she played the starring role during an impressive four-year run for the Hens under head coach Barbara Viera.
The 1995 magna cum laude graduate of Delaware was a two-year team captain and led Delaware squads to a four-year mark of 113-62 that included two North Atlantic Conference titles, two runner-up finishes, and trips to the National Invitational Volleyball Championships in 1992 and 1995.
She was a two-time first team All-NAC selection at middle hitter and finished her career ranked No. 1 all-time at UD in blocks (460), No. 2 in kills (1,245), and No. 4 in digs (1,259).
The 1996 UD Outstanding Senior Female Athlete of the Year, Emily also earned the Warner Award as the outstanding senior woman in the UD graduating class. She earned CoSIDA District 2 All-Academic honors and was the state’s NCAA Woman of the Year in 1996. Rome graduated magna cum laude from law school at the University of Minnesota 1999.
