UD Athletic Council (1951-76)
A key figure in University of Delaware athletics for over 35 years, DeLuca played a prominent role in Blue Hen sports as a member of the University of Delaware Board of Trustees and UD Athletic Council.
A 1922 graduate of Delaware, DeLuca was a standout guard for Blue Hen football teams in 1918-20.
As a member of the UD Athletic Council, he worked closely with Bob Carpenter in bringing Blue Hen football to the national forefront among small college teams in the 1940’s.
Each year the most outstanding member of the UD men's golf team earns the John J. DeLuca/Scotty Duncan Alumni Association Team Most Valuable Player Award.
He was named the University’s Outstanding Alumnus in 1956.
