LAUREN E. BAUGHER
Field Hockey (1992-95)
Women’s Lacrosse (1993)
Softball (1994-97)
A rare three-sport standout, Lauren Baugher excelled as a goalkeeper in lacrosse, a midfielder in field hockey, and as a third baseman in softball for the Blue Hens in 1992-97.
A native of Feasterville, Pa., she was a durable and dependable leader, never missing a game and, incredibly, starting all 263 contests in the three sports during her career.
Baugher played for nationally-ranked field hockey teams under UD Hall of Fame head coach Carol Miller, leading the 1994 team to a 14-6 record and the North Atlantic Conference regular season title while earning National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors in 1995.
She was a co-captain for the 1995 team that went 11-8. She scored 27 career goals, including a University of Delaware record 13 game-winners, and dished out 17 assists. She still ranks No. 8 all-time at Delaware in assists and No. 11 in points.
In softball, she was a two-time All-NAC selection and a second team National Softball Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection in 1996 for head coach B.J. Ferguson when she batted .387 with nine doubles and 18 runs batted in. A .325 career hitter, she held school records for career hits (181), doubles (38), and runs batted in (82) upon her graduation in 1997 and those totals still rank among the top five today.
She also played one season of lacrosse under head coach MaryBeth Holder in 1993, starting all 17 games in goal and recording 152 saves.
After graduation, Lauren became a physical education teacher, head softball coach, and assistant girl’s basketball coach at Newton (Mass.) North High School.
