Head Men’s Soccer Coach (1963-92)
Assistant Wrestling Coach (1965-91)
One of the most successful and most enduring coaches in University of Delaware athletics history, Loren led the Blue Hen men’s soccer program for 30 seasons and served as an assistant for the wrestling squad for 26 campaigns.
He is Delaware’s winningest soccer coach with a career mark of 208-197-37 and his 30-year tenure ranks as the fifth longest by any coach of any sport at Delaware.
A 1960 graduate of Penn State, Loren joined the UD staff in 1963 and went on to lead his soccer teams to 14 straight winning seasons, six 10-win seasons, an ECAC Tournament appearance in 1976, and NCAA Regional berths in both 1968 and 1970. His teams also captured three league titles and finished as league runners-up eight times.
As an assistant to Paul Billy with the Blue Hen wrestling squad, he coached numerous individual conference champions and NCAA qualifiers.
A long-time member of the University of Delaware physical education faculty, he remained on the UD athletics staff in several roles after his retirement from coaching and continued to assist with game management at UD home athletic events.
His son, Ron, played soccer for him at Delaware in 1983-86.
