LORI G. HOWARD
Women’s Basketball (1977-81)
The most prolific scorer in University of Delaware women’s basketball history during her career, few teams could keep Lori from dominating the action inside.
A four-year starter under UD Hall of Fame coaches Mary Ann Hitchens and Joyce Perry, she set 13 school records during her career, including marks for scoring average in a season (21.8 in 1979-80) and career (17.7) and points in game (39 vs. Temple in 1980-81).
A 6-2 forward, she averaged in double figures all four seasons and held the school record for points in a career with 1,469 until 1990. She scored in double figures in 67 straight games at one point and hit for 30 or more points in a game five times.
The 1981 University of Delaware Outstanding Senior Female Athlete of the Year and team captain as a senior, Lori was a three-time All-Region selection and was a third team CoSIDA Academic All-American as a senior in 1981.
A native of Basking Ridge, N.J., she went on to serve as head coach at former Blue Hen East Coast Conference rival Bucknell University in 1984-91. She earned her degree from the University of Delaware in 1981.
