Corey Crispell Pitches Five Scoreless to Lead Gray, 6-5, In Game One of Delaware Baseball?s Blue/Gray World Series

Redshirt senior Corey Crispell (at right) highlighted game one of the World Series with five scoreless innings on the mound for the Gray squad. The righty struck out four batters, while only giving up three hits and walking one.
The Gray team pounded out 11 hits, all off Blue starter Eric Buckland. Redshirt freshman Joe Giacchino, redshirt junior Alex Maruri, sophomore Dylan Shupe, and freshman Ty Warrington collected two hits a piece to lead the Gray team. Warrington led the team by knocking into two runs.
Nick Ferdinand paced the Blue offense, finishing with three hits, an RBI and a run scored. Jimmy Yezzo made it interesting with a bases clearing double to right center in the seventh.
Jeff Murray pitched a scoreless sixth for the Blue team, striking out one batter, while Buckland took the loss.
Game two of the Blue/Gray World Series will continue on Tuesday, starting at 3:30 p.m. at Bob Hannah Stadium.
