WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The University of Delaware men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to William & Mary in Colonial Athletic Association action Saturday night at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
Delaware (5-7, 1-3) won one singles match and one doubles match on the day but it would not be enough as the Blue Hens lost their second straight match in conference action. William & Mary improved to 6-10 on the season and 2-1 in CAA play.
In singles action, Nolan Gelman picked up Delaware's lone point of the day as he defeated William & Mary's John Banks, 0-6, 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot.
In doubles action, Troy Beneck (at right) and Adam Lawton combined at the No. 1 spot to earn Delaware's only doubles victory. The Blue Hen duo defeated the Tribe's Anton Andersson and Will Juggins 8-6, but the Hens dropped the next two doubles matches, surrendering the doubles point to the Tribe.
