University of Delaware Senior Brandon Hinkle Awarded Colonial Athletic Association Co-Pitcher of the Week Honor

RICHMOND, Va. - After a flawless performance in a 12-2 victory over Northeastern Saturday, University of Delaware senior Brandon Hinkle has been named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 6.
A lefthander from Lancaster, Pa. (Hempfield HS), Hinkle pitched seven scoreless innings, giving up only three hits, striking out eight Husky batters, and earning his team-leading fourth victory of the season. The win gave the Blue Hens their third victory in a row. Hinkle allowed only two Husky players to reach second base and left them stranded each time.
On the season, Hinkle has recorded four wins with a 5.01 ERA. The senior has recorded 47 strikeouts in 41.1 innings pitched this season. Hinkle's strikeout total is a team-high and ranks him third in the CAA. He has struck out 14 batters looking this season, which is the second highest total in the CAA, and averages 6.7 strikeouts per start this spring.
Delaware (14-14), which has won four games in a row, will return to action Tuesday as the Blue Hens host LaSalle in the second round of the Liberty Bell Classic at newly-renovated Bob Hannah Stadium at 3 p.m. Delaware is the defending champions of the Liberty Bell Classic
In addition to Hinkle, UNC-Wilmington's senior pitcher Mat Bats was also awarded CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week, College of Charleston's sophomore outfielder Morgan Phillips was named CAA Player of the Week, and College of Charleston freshman pitcher Tyler Thornton was named CAA Rookie of the Week.
