COCKEYSVILLE, Md. -- University of Delaware senior Katrina Steenkamer posted her second individual meet victory in less than a week Friday afternoon as she led the Blue Hens to two wins at the Towson Invitational at Oregon Ridge Park.
Steenkamer (Rising Sun, Md./St. Mark's HS), who captured the Delaware Invitational title last Saturday, set the pace again Friday as she covered the five-kilometer course in 18:01.16 to outdistance the field of 50 runners. Steenkamer, who has now led the Blue Hens in all three races this season, became the first Delaware runner to win back-to-back races since Erin Gemmill in 2002.
Delaware went 2-1 for the day, defeating Bowie State 15-50 and host Towson 24-34. Shawnee State downed the Blue Hens by a score of 25-31.
The Blue Hens put three runners in the top 10 as Betsy Erlanger was third overall with a time of 18:19.18 and Adrienne Fraczkowski finished 10th with a clocking of 18:57.03. Erlanger posted her second top three finish of the week after placing second overall on Saturday.
