DiFebbo, a 6-1 outfielder from Phoenixville, Pa., helped Malvern Prep win the 2015 state championship title while leading the team with 14 extra base hits. He earned first team All Inter-Ac, first team All-Main Line, second team All-City, and third team All-Southeastern Pennsylvania honors for head coach Fred Hilliard.
While playing for the Friars, DiFebbo posted a .413 league batting average, .437 on base percentage, .576 slugging percentage, 1.013 OPS, 23 RBIs, 31 runs scored, and was 18 for 18 stolen bases.
DiFebbo was a member of the 2015 Carpenter Cup Team and played in the summer for All-Star Baseball Academy under Delaware alumnus Steve Van Note '04. He was named to the Perfect Game WWBA 17U All Tournament Team. He played Fall Ball for head coach Mike Manning.
“We are very excited to have Chance join our program,” commented Sherman. “He is an extremely athletic player with a bright future ahead of him. He has four very good tools right now (can run, throw, defend, and hit for average) with the opportunity to hit for power, as he gets stronger. Chance can be an impact player right away for us.”
Hutchins, a 5-10 shortstop from Dover, Del., is a four-year starter and varsity player for Dover High School under head coach Dave Gordon and played two years for the Carpenter Cup South Team.
In his first three years the team reached state semifinals while he led the team in 2014 in hits (33), doubles (5), triples (1), home runs (2), stolen bases (15), runs scored (27), and batting average (.485). In 2015 he had 22 hits, scored 22 runs, had 10 stolen bases, and registered a .315 batting average.
Hutchins was named first team All-Henlopen Conference, second team All-State, and was awarded the Golden Glove in 2014. Over the summer he played baseball for 9ers Baseball Club (Riverdale, N.J.) under head coach Rob Maida and placed in the top 32 in the Perfect Game 17-Under WWBA National Championship.
“Jordan is another extremely athletic player with a ton of upside,” Sherman remarked. “We have been following Jordan for a number of years now and he has really progressed every year. He is an explosive runner and he has developed into a very good gap-to-gap type hitter, both of which play very well on our field. We look for great things out of Jordan here at UD.”
The Blue Hens open the 2016 season Feb. 19 at Stetson.
