Delaware Travels to Fordham for Matchups with Rams and Sacred Heart

BRONX, N.Y. – The University of Delaware baseball team will hit the road this weekend and play three games in two days at the Fordham Tournament.
UD (4-4) will open up the tournament Saturday with a game against Sacred Heart (0-9) at 3 p.m. before squaring off the Pioneers and Fordham (3-10) in a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Jim ShermanThe Blue Hens are coming off their first home games of the season. Delaware went 2-1 during its midweek home stand. UD swept Rider in a doubleheader Tuesday, but suffered their fourth loss of the season Wednesday at the hands of Wilmington (Del.).
Adam Davis will start for the Hens Saturday vs. Sacred Heart, while sophomore Chad Martin will get the nod against the Pioneers Sunday. Redshirt freshman Ron Marinaccio will get the third start of his collegiate career vs. Fordham in game two of Sunday's doubleheader.
All three games will be played at Fordham University's Houlihan Park.
HEN SCRATCHINGS
· Saturday will mark the first time Delaware has played Sacred Heart in program history, while the Hens will be facing Fordham for the 11th time.
· UD played the Rams last season and Fordham won two of the three games against the Blue Hens. The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 5-5.
· Senior Joe Giacchino leads the team in hits with 10 and his two doubles this season is tied for the team lead.
· Diaz Nardo leads the squad in runs scores (five), RBI (six), and is tied for the team lead with two home runs.
· Nardo provided the game-winning hit in Delaware's 9-8 win over Rider Tuesday.
· Giacchino and Tyler Powell are the only Blue Hens to start every game this season.
· Delaware will begin its Colonial Athletic Association schedule next weekend as the Hens host Hofstra for a three-game series at Bob Hannah Stadium.
