Blue Hens Return Home to Face Lehigh Tuesday

NEWARK, Del. – After sweeping Sacred Heart and Fordham in a doubleheader Sunday, the University of Delaware will return home to host a non-league game against Lehigh Tuesday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium.
The Hens (6-4) have won five of their last six games, including a 2-1 mark in their first home games last week.
Jim ShermanUD's bats came alive against the Pioneers and Rams as Delaware recorded 25 hits and scored 16 runs. Joe Giacchino launched his first home run of the season and recorded five hits in Sunday's two games.
Matt Hornich will get the starting nod for the Blue Hens vs. Lehigh while Peter Moore will be the starting pitcher for the Mountain Hawks.
Hornich made his first career start last week vs. Rider and the freshman gave up just four hits and did not allow a run in four innings of work.
Lehigh (3-9) comes into Tuesday's matchup having lost seven games in a row. The Mountain Hawks last victory came against Saint Joseph's on Mar. 8.
Matt Garzillo leads the Mountain Hawks at the plate. The junior has registered six doubles, one triple, one home run, and 12 RBI on the season.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
HEN SCRACTHINGS
· Delaware leads the all-time series against Lehigh 59-18 and won the last matchup 5-0 in 2012. The first meeting between the two programs was in 1905.
· UD is 200-98 all-time against teams that currently makeup the Patriot League.
· Chad Martin and Adam Davis both earned their first wins of the season Sunday.
· Delaware's 3.54 ERA is the lowest in the CAA.
· Freshman Calvin Scott made the first start of his career against Fordham and tallied a double and three RBI.
· Luke Alicknavitch leads the UD pitching staff with five appearances and has one win with a 1.59 ERA.
· After facing Lehigh, the Hens will open up conference play Friday with a three-game home series against Hofstra.
