RICHMOND, Va. -- For the second straight week, University of Delaware senior standout Amira Idris has been honored as the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
Idris, a biomedical engineering major from Woodbridge, Va. (Hylton High School), enjoyed another outstanding outing as she led the Blue Hens to a solid performance at the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State.
Idris, the defending CAA outdoor long jump champion and an All-East selection for both the long jump and the triple jump during the indoor season, recorded two top finishes at the Raleigh Relays as she posted a fourth place finish in both the long jump (19-0) and in the triple jump (40-2).
Both distances rank her in the top 40 in the East Region and her distance in the triple jump - the best by a CAA athlete so far this season - qualified her for the ECAC Championships to be held in early May at Princeton University.
In addition to Idris, also honored by the CAA were Elon's Kimberly Johansen as the Women's Track Athlete of the Week, UNCW's Cameron Shaw as the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, and William & Mary's Brian Waterfield as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week.
Delaware will continue action this weekend at the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
