NEWARK, Del. -- Nearly 50 teams and over 500 student-athletes will be on hand Saturday at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium as the University of Delaware women's outdoor track & field squad hosts the annual Delaware Open.
A total of 24 intercollegiate men's and women's teams from NCAA Division I, II, and III and a host of regional track clubs will be taking part in the all-day event that opens with field events at 10:30 a.m. and with track events on the new eight-lane Beynon surface beginning at 12 noon.
“I am looking forward to a great day on Saturday,” said Delaware head coach Wendy McFarlane, whose squad captured the overall team title a year ago. “We are very excited to host this event and hope to have a dominant performance by the Blue Hens. Hosting our first home meet this year with all the new upgrades to our facility will definitely enhance the level of competition and spectatorship. We hope to see members of the community, alumni, and friends come out to support us.”
Admission to the event is free of charge and free parking is located in front of Delaware Stadium and behind the Bob Carpenter Center.
