BALTIMORE, Md. -- The University of Delaware women's outdoor track & field team, fresh off a first place finish at its own Delaware Open this past Saturday, will look to win its third meet title of the season this weekend as the Blue Hens take part in the 12th annual Legacy Meet hosted by Morgan State University.
The two-day event will begin on Friday, Apr. 17, at 12 noon with Saturday's action getting underway at 9:30 a.m. All the action will take place at Morgan State's Hughes Stadium.
Delaware head coach Wendy McFarlane will take a squad of over 45 athletes to the meet with Blue Hens scheduled to compete in 20 events.
The Hens have finished in the top five in every scored meet they have competed at this season, including winning the season-opening VCU Ram Invitational back in March and last week's Delaware Open as well as placing fourth at the Colonial Relays and fifth at the Towson Invitational. Delaware did not compete at Morgan State last year but posted a second place finish in 2013.
Delaware will once again be led by Latazah Coleman and Tyler Jackson in the sprints, Liz McGroarty in the middle distance, Katrina Steenkamer in the distance, Breanna Nicholson in the 400 meter hurdles, Amira Idris in the jumps, and Sarah Hillman and Monica Hagenauer in the throwing events.
Coleman was named the CAA Track Athlete of the Week this week after setting a school record in the 100 meters (11.6) and winning that event as well as the 4 x 100 meter relay at the Delaware Open.
