Delaware Women Competing at William & Mary Colonial Relays this Week

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware women's outdoor track & field team will be taking a full squad south this week as the Blue Hens compete at the 50th annual Colonial Relays at the College of William & Mary.
Delaware will take a group of student-athletes to compete in 24 events starting with the women's hammer throw on Thursday afternoon, Apr. 2, and following with full slates of acton on Friday and Saturday.
A total of 2,500 athletes from the high school, college, club, and post-collegiate ranks will be competing. Delaware will be one of 58 women's collegiate teams competing in the three-day event.
Expected to compete for the Blue Hens in the running events are Latazah Coleman in the 100 and 200 meters, Tyler Jackson in the 100 and 200 meters, Carolyn Darr and Michele Simmons in the 400 meters, Shanel Dickens and Angie Spadaccini in the 800 meters, Erin McCloskey, Liz McGroarty, and Ilana Schnaufer in the 1,500 meters, Madeline Berman, Betsy Erlanger, and Katrina Steenkamer in the 3,000 meters, Megan Flynn, Becky Gessler, and Gabrielle Alaimo in the 5,000 meters, Megan Crowley in the 100 and 400 meter hurdles, Leslie Ope in the 100 meter hurdles, Breanna Nicholson in the 400 meter hurdles, Kelly Knauer in the 400 meter hurdles, Hannah Pepper in the 400 meter hurdles, and Melissa Mazzo in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The Hens will also compete in the 400 meter, 800 meter, 1,600 meter, 1,600 meter sprint, and 6,000 meter relay events.
In the field events, the Hens will have Kelsey Evancho in the high jump and triple jump, Pepper in the high jump, Alexis Gligor, Haley Gorenflo, and Miranda Reinson in the pole vault, Anisa Fortt in the long jump and triple jump, Amira Idris in the long jump, Michelle White in the long jump, Spencer Nendza in the triple jump and javelin, Irene Cedano in the shot put and hammer, Sarah Hillman in the shot put and discus, Avree Wright in the shot put, Jade Francis in the discus and hammer, Monica Hagenauer in the discus and hammer, and Evelyn Cubero and Kristina Valko in the javelin.
