Delaware to Host 33 College, High School Teams for Delaware Classic Saturday

NEWARK, Del. --The University of Delaware women's outdoor track & field squad will host its second major meet in three weeks Saturday when the Blue Hens take part in the annual Delaware Classic at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.
A total of 33 college and high school teams as well as representatives from 10 local track clubs will be in action at the all-day meet.
The action will get started with the college javelin at 8:30 a.m. with the first running event set for 10 a.m. with the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase. The first high school field event will be the boy's and girl's shot put at 9:30 a.m. The first high school track event will be the girl's 2,000 meter steeplechase at 10:30 a.m.
Athletes will be competing in the javelin, hammer, discus, shot put, pole vault, long jump, and triple jump field events.
Track events, in order, will be the 3,000 and 2,000 meter steeplechase, 4 x 800 meter relay, 4 x 200 meter relay, 100 and 110 meter high hurdles, 100 meter dash, 1,500 and 1,600 meters, 400 meters, 4 x 100 meter relay, 300 and 400 meter intermediate hurdles, 800 meters, 200 meters, 3,000 and 3,200 meters, and 4 x 400 meter relay.
In addition to the Delaware women, other collegiate programs set to compete are Chestnut Hill, Delaware Valley, Morgan State, St. Mary's (men), Towson (women), UMBC, Johns Hopkins, Villanova, Wesley, Harcum Junior College, and Valley Forge Military Academy (men).
High school teams expected to compete are Bohemia Manor (Md.), Cambridge (Md.), Cape Henlopen (Del.), Cardinal Spellman (N.Y.), Wilmington Charter (Del.), Delaware Military Academy (Del.), Elkton (Md.), Harford Tech (Md.), Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.), Methacton (Pa.), Middletown (Del.), Middletown National Academy (Del.), Newark (Del.), Newark Charter (Del.), North East (Md.), Our Lady of Good Counsel (Md.), Polytech (Del.), St. Elizabeth (Del.), St. George's Tech (Del.), Sussex Tech (Del.), Ursuline (Del.), and William Penn (Del.).
