Delaware Athletes Post 11 Top 10 Finishes at Day 2 of Colonial Track & Field Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Sophomore Jade Francis captured first place in the University Division hammer throw and freshman Angie Spadaccini was third in the University Division 800 meter run to lead the University of Delaware women's outdoor track & field team during the second day of the 50th annual Colonial Relays Friday at the College of William & Mary.
The third and final day of the meet will begin Saturday morning at 10 a.m. A total of 2,500 athletes from the high school, college, club, and post-collegiate ranks are competing and Delaware is one of 58 women's collegiate teams.
Delaware is currently in 14th place in the 44-team field with 21 points.
Francis (Connetquot/Islandia, N.Y.) won the hammer throw with a toss of 145-feet, 3-inches while Spadaccini (Padua/Wilmington, Del.) was third in the 800 meters with a clocking of 2:19.84.
Other top Delaware performances saw senior Katrina Steenkamer (St. Mark's/Rising Sun, Md.) place fifth in the University 3,000 meters (10:08.66) and junior Latazah Coleman (Appoquinimink/Middletown, Del.) was fifth in the University 200 meters with an ECAC qualifying time of 24.60 and seventh in the Championship 100 meters with a time of 12.12.
Also, senior Monica Hagenauer (Parkland/Schnecksville, Pa.) was seventh in the Championship hammer throw (151-3), senior Amira Idris (Hylton/Woodbridge, Va.) was seventh in the Championship long jump (18-5.25), and senior Melissa Mazzo (Thomas/Webster, N.Y.) was seventh in the University 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:04.77, a mark that broke her own school record of 11:04.82 set last week.
