Makeda Nicholas posted her first career double double Sunday afternoon to guide the Blue Hens to a 59-52 victory over Northeastern at the Bob Carpenter Center. Nicholas, who has earned the starting nod in each of the last three contests, registered a career-best 15 rebounds to go along with 12 points, three steals and two blocks for Delaware (7-7, 2-1 CAA). Erika Brown added 12 points and four assists while Courtni Green collected 10 points and three rebounds. The Hens used a defensive effort to shut down the Huskies (6-8, 1-2 CAA) and held one of the league's top leading scorers in Samantha DeFreese scoreless. Claudia Ortiz logged a game- and career-high 27 points for Northeastern while DeFreese recorded nine rebounds. With the two teams tied going into the fourth quarter, Delaware opened the stanza with seven unanswered points. The Hens outscored the Huskies, 18-11, in the final period and held NU scoreless for the final three minutes of the match.
· Delaware has won two straight after dropping five of the previous six contests.
· The Hens have not yet picked up a string of three consecutive victories this season.

SERIES INFORMATION
· Delaware holds the all-time series advantage of 3-2 over Charleston with each team winning on its home court and the Hens picking up an additional victory in the 2014 CAA semifinals at The Show Place Arena.
· Last season, the Cougars collected the 55-49 victory over the Blue Hens at TD Arena on Jan. 6.
· UD followed with an 80-49 win behind double figure scoring efforts from five different players at the Bob Carpenter Center on Jan. 22.
· The two teams complete the regular season series on Feb. 12 in Newark.
· Candice Jackson (Michigan State '04) is in her second season at CofC and has led the Cougars to a 10-34 record. Jackson previously spent three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Duke University.
