Jim Sherman, whose team will continue preseason drills in January and open the 2017 regular season in February. “The Gold team played well, coming up with some clutch hitting throughout the lineup and getting good solid start from Walter in Game two and two game-finishing appearances from closer Ron Marinaccio. It was just a good overall World Series to finish out the fall.”Team Gold opened the series on Friday with the 11-9 victory as it overcame an early 4-0 deficit by scoring four runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the decisive ninth frame. Diaz Nardo, Doug Trimble, and Tyler Callender each hit home runs with Nardo and James Meeker each knocking in three runs. Nick Patten and Jordan Glover each hit home runs for Team Blue with Patten, Kyle Baker, and Adam Rapp knocking in two runs apiece. Marinaccio got the win with three innings of relief with Scott Zimmer hurling a scoreless ninth inning for the save.
In Sunday's game, Walter allowed just five hits and one earned runs in 6.1 innings to earn the win on the mound. Trimble hit another home run and knocked in two runs while Matt McKeown added a team-high three RBI and Kevin Mohollen knocked in two runs for the Gold. Kyle Hinton had two of the Blue team's seven hits.
