Jim Sherman, who will begin his 17th season at the helm of the Blue Hens in 2017. “It's surely well-deserved as Jordan is an outstanding player and an extremely hard-working individual. He typifies the makeup of our team and is great leader on and off the field."
A 2016 second team All-East (ECAC) and first team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, Glover enjoyed an outstanding spring during his first season at Delaware after sitting out 2015 with an injury.
He led the Blue Hens in six offensive categories as he batted .361, collected 72 hits, banged out 20 doubles, knocked in 52 runs, collected 111 total bases, and was good on 22 of 25 stolen base attempts. He also scored 49 runs, had a .555 slugging percentage, hit five home runs, and committed just two errors in 112 chances in leftfield (.982).
Glover tied for fourth in the CAA in doubles, ranked fourth in RBI, tied for fifth in stolen bases, tied for sixth in on base percentage, and was seventh in slugging percentage. He also led the team with 23 multiple-hit games (team-best five vs. Stetson) and 13 multiple-RBI games (four on three occasions).
Glover's 52 RBI is the most by a Delaware player since Jimmy Yezzo had 64 in 2013, while his 22 stolen bases are the most by a Blue Hen since Brandon Menchaca had 28 in 2006. His .366 batting average in league games ranked No. 3 among all CAA players.
Glover was among just three Colonial Athletic Association players honored on the CBM teams, joining first team catcher Nick Feight of UNCW and third team second baseman Cullen Large of William & Mary.
Delaware, which returns its top eight hitters and 10 of its top 11 pitchers from a team that went 32-22 a year ago, will begin preseason drills in January in preparation for the 2017 opener Feb. 17 against host Pittsburgh at the Pittsburgh Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Jan. 6, 2017 College Preview edition of Collegiate Baseball newspaper is now available which features top players from every NCAA Division I Conference and projected Players and Pitchers of The Year in each league.
