UD Football & Soccer Headed to Smyrna HS for 4th Annual Blue Hens Downstate Day Apr. 16

NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware Athletics will hit the road again this spring when the Blue Hens head downstate to Smyrna High School for a fun-filled day of free entertainment including football action, fun, giveaways, and youth skills clinics on Saturday, Apr. 16.
Blue Hen boys and girls 5 to 12 years of age are able to register in advance to participate in either the free football or soccer skills clinics beginning at 10:30 a.m. Select Delaware football, men's soccer, and women's soccer student-athletes and coaches will be on-hand to provide on-field sport-specific fun with the registered youth participants for 45 to 60 minutes. No equipment is needed by participants, however, comfortable athletic attire and sneakers are strongly recommended.
Day of registration will not be available. Online registration is currently open at www.BlueHens.com/DownstateDay until Wednesday, Apr. 6 or once filled. Space is limited on a first-come, first-served basis.
Following the youth skills clinics, Blue Hens of all ages are invited to enjoy the Fan Zone from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. adjacent to the Smyrna High School football stadium, inclusive of inflatable interactives, face painting, bounce houses, music from DJ Andrew Hugh, giveaways, prize drawings, UD spirit teams, and photo opportunities with YoUDee.
Admission to the fan zone is free. Concessions will be available for purchase, including the University of Delaware UDairy Creamery Moo Mobile, along with the UD Bookstore on-site selling official Blue Hens merchandise. Tailgating (no alcohol permitted per school district policy) will be encouraged.
Delaware football head coach Dave Brock, now entering his fourth year at the helm of the Blue Hens, will lead his team in a practice session as part of the event beginning at 12 p.m.

Fans should also mark their calendars for the annual Blue Hens Fandemonium VII that will be held on Saturday, May 7 at the UD Athletics Complex. This action-packed day with UD Athletics includes the Select-A-Seat event inside Delaware Stadium and the Fan Zone with live music, food, free pony rides for kids, inflatable interactives, laser tag, face painting, games, and more.
That same day, Delaware Baseball will square off against Elon at Bob Hannah Stadium at 1 p.m. while Blue Hens Softball hosts Elon at the Delaware Softball Stadium in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. The Blue-White Delaware Football spring game will take place in Delaware Stadium beginning at 12 p.m. Stay tuned to www.BlueHens.com for more details.
