RICHMOND, Va. -- Thanks to an outstanding week that saw him lead the University of Delaware baseball team to a perfect 4-0 record, including a weekend sweep over league foe Hofstra, Blue Hen junior leftfielder Jordan Glover has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Co-Player of the Week.
Glover, a first-year standout from Marlton, N.J. by way of Cherokee High School and Cumberland (N.J.) County College, batted .450 for the week as the Blue Hens (21-11, 4-5 CAA) moved back into the thick of the league standings with a perfect slate that included wins of 8-4, 13-3, and 8-4 at Hofstra over the weekend. Earlier in the week the Hens defeated La Salle 4-2 in a Liberty Bell Classic consolation game in Philadelphia.
He shares the weekly CAA Player of the Week award with Steve Linkous of UNCW. Elon's senior Michael Elefante was selected as the CAA Pitcher of the Week while College of Charleston freshman infielder Dupree Hart was tabbed as CAA Rookie of the Week.
Delaware has now had six players honored by the CAA this year after Kevin Mohollen, Nick Patten, Adam Rapp, and Kyle Baker were named CAA Rookie of the Week on four successive weeks and freshman Ron Marinaccio was named CAA Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 14.
Glover batted .450 (9-20) with three doubles, a triple, three runs scored and five runs batted in as part of an outstanding week. He was 8-for-16 in the Blue Hens' threegame sweep at Hofstra with a couple of three-hit outings while twice driving in two runs. He had RBI doubles in both the seventh and ninth innings of Sunday's 8-4 win over Hofstra that helped the Hens pull away.
Glover, who now has 10 multiple RBI games this season, is currently batting .342 for the season and leads the team with 36 RBI (No. 2 in the CAA), 16 doubles, and 10 stolen bases. He is currently working on a seven-game hitting streak.
Delaware will begin an eight-game homestand this Friday when the Hens host Northeastern (15-14 4-4 CAA) for a three-game CAA weekend set at Bob Hannah Stadium. The teams will play Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is free to all Delaware baseball home games at Bob Hannah Stadium.
