Delaware will be looking to get back to winning ways this afternoon as the Blue Hens return to non-league action to take on longtime foe Saint Joseph's at Bob Hannah Stadium.
The Blue Hens (21-14) will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak after dropping a weekend set in Colonial Athletic Association play to Northeastern by scores of 6-1 on Friday, 6-3 on Saturday, and 14-0 on Sunday. Saint Joseph's (17-14, 6-3 Atlantic 10) is working on a four-game win streak that includes a 7-3 win over Monmouth Apr. 13 and a weekend Atlantic 10 Conference sweep on the road over Massachusetts this past weekend that saw the Hawks win by scores of 3-1, 6-1, and 17-7.
LAST TIME OUT
Delaware was limited to just three hits and Northeastern scored in five separate innings on the way to a 14-0 victory Sunday at Bob Hannah Stadium. Northeastern banged out 18 hits, including two home runs, three doubles, and three triples and was in control the entire afternoon. Delaware, which got singles from Nick Tierno, Kyle Baker, and Calvin Scott, was shutout for the first time this season and for the first time in 92 games since a 7-0 loss at Towson on May 10, 2014. The Huskies scored all the runs they would need on a RBI triple by freshman Josh Treff in the second and also later got home runs from Pat Madigan and Jake Farrell. Northeastern broke the game open with four runs in the fifth, two in the seventh, and five more in the eighth. Delaware freshman Kyle Hinton (2-1) got his second start but suffered the loss as he lasted just 2.2 innings and allowed three runs.
