NEWARK, Del. -- Over 500 collegiate, club, and high school athletes will be on hand Saturday at the University of Delaware's Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium as the Blue Hens host the annual Delaware Classic.
The event will get underway with field events beginning at 9 a.m. with the first track event scheduled for 10 a.m. The meet will continue through late afternoon. Admission is free.
"We look forward to having a great day on Saturday," said Delaware head coach Wendy McFarlane-Smith. "Weather conditions this Spring have not been favorable, therefore, we look to have better performances as we move into warmer conditions. This meet helps us to market our program to the community around us and we welcome the local high school and club teams and Open and Master's athletes coming to compete. We have a good turnout in entries and we look forward to a successful meet."
Delaware will be one of six college teams competing in a meet that will also include six club teams and 19 high school boys and girls teams, including 16 from the state of Delaware.
Field events contested will be the shot put, discus, hammer, javelin, long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault.
