Reid, McGroarty, Two Relay Teams Advance to Finals on Day 2 of ECAC Track & Field

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Sophomores Tyra Reid and Liz McGroarty and the 4 x 100 meter and 4 x 800 meter relay teams each put in solid performances on Saturday and advanced to the finals to highlight University of Delaware efforts at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium.
The third and final day of the championships will get underway on Sunday morning with Delaware's two relay teams and five individuals all in action.
In Saturday's trials, Reid, the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association champion, placed seventh in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.86, the 4 x 100 meter relay team of Carolyn Darr, Tyler Jackson, Paige Thompson-Charles, and Reid also placed seventh with clocking of 46.69, McGroarty was eighth in the 1,500 meters (4:30.65), and the 4 x 800m relay tandem Jeanette Bendolph, Betsy Erlanger, Emily Paolucci, and Maame Kyeadea-Amponsah was also eighth in 9:14.58.
Each will compete in Sunday's finals with the 4 x 100 relay set for 12:15 p.m., the 1,500 scheduled for 12:25, the 400 meters set for 1 p.m., and the 4 x 800 relay slated for 2:40 p.m.
In addition, Sarah Hillman will compete in the shot put at 9:30 a.m., freshman Ashley Bailey will compete in the pole vault at 11 a.m., and freshman Lauren Zodl will take part in the 3,000 meters at 2:25 p.m.
Also on Saturday for Delaware, Jackson was 13th in the 100 meter semifinals (12.21) after placing 16th in the trials (12.23) and also was 26th in the 200 meter trials after being disqualified for a lane violation; the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Carolyn Darr, Michele Simmons, Coleman, and Carly Pettipaw was 15th (3:52.39); and Coleman was 21st in the 200 meter trials (25.06).
On Friday, Hillman placed second in the discus with a throw of 156-8 to earn All-East honors.
