ECAC Championships Day 3

Delaware Posts Five All-East Performances on Final Day of ECAC Meet; Records Best-Ever Team Finish

The Blue Hens competed in seven events and finished in the Top 10 in all but one led by the duo of sophomores Sarah Hillman and Tyra Reid.
Hillman earned her second All-East performance of the weekend as she placed third in the shot put with a toss of 45-9. On Friday she placed second in the discus with a heave of 156-8. She showed great improvement after placing 11th in the discus and 16th in the shot put as a freshman in 2015.
Reid, the Colonial Athletic Association 400 meters champion, also placed third on Sunday as she ran the 400 meters in a time of 54.53 to finish third overall and earn All-East honors for the first time in her career.
Freshman Lauren Zodl also put in an All-East performance as she placed sixth overall in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:09.55. Two Delaware relay teams also earned All-East honors with eighth place showings as the 4 x 100 meter relay team of junior Carolyn Darr, junior Tyler Jackson, sophomore Paige Thompson-Charles, and Reid, recorded a time of 47.43 and the 4 x 800m relay quartet of freshman Jeanette Bendolph, junior Betsy Erlanger, freshman Emily Paolucci, and freshman Maame Kyeadea-Amponsah finished in 9:41.94.
Also on Sunday, sophomore Liz McGroarty was 10th in the 1,500 meter finals with a time of 4:33.36 and freshman Ashley Bailey was 12th in the pole vault with a leap of 12-0.
Delaware will continue action Monday when the Hens take part in the Swarthmore (Pa.) College Final Qualifier meet and several individual could still advance to the NCAA East Regionals scheduled for May 26-28 at the University of North Florida.
