Reid, a native of Dover, Del. and a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, will compete in the 400 meter dash preliminaries on Thursday, May 26 at 7:20 p.m. The quarterfinals will be held on Friday, May 27 at 6 p.m. The top runners then advance to the NCAA Championships June 8 at the University of Oregon. Reid has the 39th ranked time out of 48 competitors for the regionals.
Hillman, also a native of Dover, Del. and a product of Polytech High School, will be among those vying for the discus title when competition begins on Friday, May 27, at 12 noon. The top finishers in that competition will also advance to the NCAA Championships. Hillman's season-best throw ranks 38th out of 48 competitors for the regionals.
Reid was Delaware's lone Colonial Athletic Association individual champion back on May 7 when she captured the 400 meters title with a school-record time of 53.79 while also placing third in the 4 x 100 meter relay and fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay.
This past week she earned All-East honors in two events as she placed third in the 400 meters (54.53) and ran a leg of the eighth place 4 x 100 meter relay team (47.43) at Princeton University. Earlier this season she placed second in the 400 meters at the prestigious Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State and captured the 400 meter title at the Delaware Classic.
Hillman, the UD record-holder in the discus with a toss of 162-feet, 8-inches earlier this season, is coming off an impressive showing at the ECAC meet last week when she earned All-East honors by placing second in the discus (156-8) and third in the shot put (45-9).
She won seven individual meet titles earlier this season, including first place finishes in the discus at Navy, Princeton, and the Delaware Classic. She also was the lone Blue Hen to compete at the Penn Relays where she finished seventh in the discus.
