Blue Hens Begin Brand New Season; Open CAA Action at 7th Ranked James Madison
HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware will have a tall task this week as the Blue Hens open a brand new season - kicking off Colonial Athletic Association action with a trip south to take on a James Madison team that opened conference play last week with a comeback win at Maine.
With the non-league section of the schedule behind them, the Blue Hens (2-1, 0-0 CAA) now set their sights on an eight-game CAA slate that will ultimately determine Delaware's post-season fortunes.
Delaware, in the midst of a three-game road swing, returns to action after suffering a 38-21 setback to NCAA FBS foe Wake Forest back on Sept. 17 in which the Hens stayed in the game thanks to forcing two turnovers that led to short scoring drives. Delaware was idle this past Saturday.
No. 7/6 ranked James Madison (3-1, 1-0 CAA), which opened the season with routs over Morehead State (80-7) and Central Connecticut State (56-21) before falling to FCS foe North Carolina (56-28), opened league play with a 31-20 win at Maine on Saturday. The Dukes trailed 20-17 heading into the final quarter but scored twice to leave with the win.
