Delaware Comes up Short Against Hofstra, 4-3

NEWARK, Del. – Hofstra took the early lead and the Blue Hens were never able to catch up in Saturday afternoon's 4-3 loss to the Pride at the Delaware Field House Outdoor Courts.
Freshman Laurenz Lankes (Cologne, Germany) collected the first singles win of the day for Delaware (6-12, 0-2 CAA) by coming from behind to defeat Niko Vulinovich, 0-6, 6-3, 6-3 in No. 2 singles.
Classmate Dominick Perez (Bethesda, Md./Gonzaga College) followed with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 decision over David Schrott in the fifth slot while sophomore Venkatesh Ramkumar (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) topped Nick Silvestri, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
Prior to the match, the Hens honored Roy Cheng (below left; Shatin, Hong Kong/Sentinel Secondary School) and Tyler Flematti (below right; Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) as a part of senior day ceremonies.
