NEWARK, Del. – In conjunction with the Colonial Athletic Association and fellow members, the Delaware Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be collecting toys and new/gently used winter coats on-site at all fall championships.
The collected items will benefit the local community as the Blue Hens have partnered with the Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club for distribution.
"This community initiative is extremely important and unique for us because it not only unites us as Blue Hens, but as a conference as well," remarked Ashley Dingman, Delaware women's golfer and SAAC representative. "We are extremely excited to partner with the CAA as a whole while being able to directly impact the local Newark community and Boys & Girls Club."
Beginning Friday, October 26 and leading up to the CAA Field Hockey Championship, which will be hosted by Delaware at Fred P. Rullo Stadium on November 2-4, boxes will be available in the Bob Carpenter Center, Delaware Field House and Carpenter Sports Building. During Friday and Sunday's field hockey matches in addition to Saturday's men's soccer contest, SAAC representatives will be on hand to collect donations as well.
A donation of any size is greatly appreciated as we support our community.
