NEWARK, Del. – Since his high school days, Troy Reeder has been making a name for himself around the state of Delaware.
Over the past two years for the Blue Hens, Reeder has been making himself known around the country and that took another step on Thursday when the senior linebacker was named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List, given to the country's top FCS defensive player.
"It's certainly humbling to be recognized among the top defensive players in the country, but it's really a testament to my teammates and coaches for pushing me and putting me in this position," Reeder said. "Right now though, we're all focused on winning. That's all we want to do. We just want to win."
Reeder currently leads the CAA and ranks seventh in the country with 96 tackles on the year. He also leads the league and ranks in the top-15 nationally in tackles for a loss with 12.0 this fall. He has registered double-digit tackles in six of the nine games for the Blue Hens.
For his collegiate career, the Hockessin, Del. native has 315 tackles (248 at Delaware, 67 at Penn State), 26.5 of those are TFLs. This season, he has a career-high 2.5 sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a blocked punt.
Reeder joins fellow teammate Nasir Adderley on the list that includes 40 of the country's top FCS defensive players.
The Blue Hens are focused on their matchup with #13 Stony Brook this weekend on Long Island. Game time on Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
