NEWARK, Del. – After guiding the University of Delaware men's tennis program to second most victories in school history last year, Pablo Montana was named the 2018 USTA Middle States Delaware District College Coach of the Year.
It's the first time that a Delaware men's tennis coach has ever won the award.
Montana, who is now in his third season with the Blue Hens, guided Delaware to a 17-8 mark last spring, only two away from the school record for wins of 19, set in 1974. Prior to last season, Delaware had won 16 total matches in the previous four seasons.
In addition to the on-court success, nine different Blue Hens were named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll last year.
Montana and his Blue Hens open up the 2019 spring season on Monday, January 21stwhen they host Mt. St. Mary's at Delcastle Indoor Courts.
