HEN SCRATCHINGS 🐔
SPRING(ING) INTO ACTION: The Blue Hens and Tigers were originally scheduled to meet this weekend at Towson, but a spring snowstorm has prompted the series to be moved to Newark. Delaware will instead make the short trip down I-95 next season.
HE'S BACK: Both outfielder Kyle Baker and righty Billy Sullivan IV will be returning to the lineup today. Sullivan missed his previous start due to illness, while Baker has been out since 3/11 (six games). Baker still leads the Blue Hens in both average (.400) and RBI (12).
ONE FROM HISTORY: Delaware senior Colman Vila is one appearance away from setting the program mark. Vila appeared in his 75th career game (eight this season) in Saturday's doubleheader.
SECOND SEASON UNDERWAY: The Blue Hens will begin their “second season” Saturday afternoon, welcoming Colonial Athletic Association play. After this weekend's series, Delaware will head to Michigan for four games on its CAA bye-week. Following the series at Michigan, Delaware will play seven straight CAA series (four home, three away).
BEHIND ENEMY LINES: Towson enters the weekend series with a record of 3-15, having lost 14 of their last 16 games and four-in-a-row. Shortstop Richie Palacios leads the Tigers in batting average (.348), home runs (3), RBI (14), on-base percentage (.483) and stolen bases (8). The New York City (Brooklyn) native has accounted for 37% of Towson's runs this season.
SERIES: Delaware is 86-41 all-time against Towson. Delaware has won four straight, and seven of nine against Towson.
