TULSA, Okla. – Luis Molina and James Wilkinson will make history for the University of Delaware this weekend as the freshmen will be the first Blue Hens to compete at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship.
The pair will participate in the Prequalifying singles portion of the tournament at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center this Saturday and Sunday.
"This is a huge opportunity for our program to compete for a national championship and it is a testament to our administration with the support we have been given over the last few years," exclaimed Delaware head coach Pablo Montana. "I am excited for James and Luis to compete against the best of the best and to put their skills and hard work up to the challenge."
Qualifying singles and doubles will be held October 1-2 with main draw matches transpiring between October 4-8. All matches will be held at the University of Tulsa for the 13th straight season.
In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players will be competing to secure a berth into the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 7-11 in Surprise, Ariz.
The ITA National Ranking & Tournament Committee, consisting of the 12 region chairs and the ITA Operating Committee Chair, is responsible for all selections for the championships and only NCAA Division I student-athletes are eligible to participate.
