NEWARK, Del. – The only gloomy part of Saturday afternoon at Delaware Stadium was the weather as the University of Delaware football team rolled to an impressive 37-0 win over the Leopards of Lafayette College.
The Blue Hens posted their first shutout of the 2018 season while the offense rolled up over 400 total yards on the afternoon.
Redshirt junior Pat Kehoe continued his impressive start to the year, finishing 18-of-28 for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his main targets were seniors Vinny Papale and Charles Scarff, who combined for eight catches for 125 yards and each had a TD catch.
Redshirt sophomore DeJoun Lee racked up 93 yards on 11 carries to lead a powerful running attack, that included 54 yards from senior Kani Kane, along with Kane and Khory Spruill finding the endzone.
Defensively, senior Troy Reeder led the way with eight tackle and forced fumble, while classmate Nasir Adderley picked up his first interception of the year. As a unit, the defense limited Lafayette to just 118 yards of total offense, including -18 rushing.
Delaware jumped on momentum from the start, scoring on its first drive of the day with a 10-yard TD pass from Kehoe to Scarff to cap an eight-play, 55 yard drive.
Six minutes later, Kehoe orchested another drive with a TD pass to freshman Bryce De Maille, his first career catch. It capitalized on a Lafayette turnover and pushed the lead to 14-0.
Lee would help ignite a long seven-play, 82-yard drive that would finish with a Kehoe to Papale 15-yard TD pass as the Blue Hens headed to the locker rooms with a 21-0 cushion.
That lead would increase to 28-0 when Kane ran one in from seven yards out to cap off a seven-play, 68-yard drive with seven minutes left in the third.
Delaware would add another touchdown and a safety in the game's final minutes to wrap up the dominating 37-0 victory.

"I'm happy for our fans and supporters, our coaching staff and most importantly our student-athletes. They've really shown their true character here in coming back focused and responding with a great effort today. They were very purposefully in how they played today and we played close to a complete game out here today." – Head Coach Danny Rocco
