Hens Show Success on First Day of ITA Regional

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Delaware captured four wins and had four players advance in play as the Blue Hens completed the first day of action at the ITA Atlantic Regional, hosted by Virginia Tech.
In the singles qualifying play, sophomore Caragh Courtney defeated Navy's Annalise Klopfer, 6-1, 6-4 before topping Liberty's Alexandra Almborg, 6-3, 7-6 (4), to advance to the elimination bracket. She is slated to face Virginia's Vivian Glozman at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Round of 64.
On the doubles side, Courtney paired with freshman Jojo Bach for an 8-4 victory over George Washington in the Round of 64. The duo continue competition on Saturday against conference foe William & Mary.
Junior Sarah Whited and freshman Eliza Askarova collected their third straight victory on the year by pulling out the 8-7 (5) decision against Temple. Whited and Askarova will face VCU at 9 a.m. Saturday.
