PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Temple took the lead early and never looked back Thursday afternoon as the Hens fell to the Owls, 5-2, at the Legacy Tennis Center.
Sophomore Sarah Whited picked up Delaware's first singles win of the day with the hard-fought 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 come-from-behind victory over Oleksandra Doroshenko in the fifth spot. The win is Whited's 10th of the season and 28th of her career.
Freshman Caragh Courtney also collected a three-set victory by defeating Stefaniya Surikova, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2, in the second flight for her third straight win of the year.
POST-MATCH QUOTES
Head Coach Kelly Anderson
"We realize how key doubles is to build momentum at the beginning of the match and we have areas we need to get better at going into the remainder of the season. We have been competitive in every match in singles and I'm proud of the way our team fights. It's now about playing smart on the big points and digging in. We have another tough challenge coming up at William & Mary and it's going to take every player on the team to dig deep and find a way to get it done with what we have on that day."
UPCOMING SCHEDULE

• Sunday, March 17 – Delaware at Norfolk State – Noon – NSU Tennis Complex (Norfolk, Va.)
