RICHMOND, Va. – A lot of college athletic programs go as far as their seniors take them.
Well, the University of Delaware baseball team has won five of its past six games, including a sweep of conference rival William & Mary this past weekend.
Leading the way was senior Kevin Mohollen, who was honored for his performance with the CAA Player of the Week award.
"Kevin is a critical piece for us because when you have an inexperienced team, your seniors become even more important," head coach Jim Sherman said. "He's really been having great at-bats and getting us going offensively and it's helped set the tone for the rest of the lineup."
For the week, Mohollen hit .462 (6-13) with two doubles, a homer and four RBI's in Delaware's 4-0 week. The Blue Hens' leadoff hitter also walked five times for a .611 on-base percentage. He recorded multiple hits in three of UD's four contests, including a pair of 2-for-3 efforts in the Hens' series sweep of William & Mary.
Earlier this season, the Rose Valley, Pa. native became part of the program's 200 career hit club and currently sits in the top-30 all-time with 220 hits as a Blue Hen.
This week, Mohollen and his teammates will host Delaware State (Tuesday at 7 p.m.) and UMBC (Wednesday at 7 p.m.) at Bob Hannah Stadium.
