Delaware Drops OT Heartbreaker at Drexel, 63-59
1/19/2020 5:03:00 PM | Women's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Blue Hens sharpshooter Kayla Shaw drained a 3-pointer as time expired to send the game into overtime, but Delaware was unable to come up with the victory Sunday afternoon as Drexel topped the Hens, 63-59, at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Delaware, which outscored the Dragons in three of the four quarters of regulation, went a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, but was unable to pick up a field goal in the final five minutes of action. Drexel collected six free throws and a field goal in that span for the win.
Nicole Enabosi led the Hens with 16 points and four steals while Abby Gonzales contributed 15 points, including eight in the first quarter.
Jasmine Dickey neared her eighth double double of the season but fell just short with a game-high 14 rebounds and nine points.
POST-GAME QUOTES
Head Coach Natasha Adair
"We fought today. I'm not going to question our toughness. When you're on the road against an extremely respected team that grinds things out, you have to be that team as well. We have to keep our heads up high because of this. Things are coming together; if we keep this energy and momentum, I'll be very proud of the end result. It hurts because you know they left it all on the floor and they were exhausted at the end. We have to keep this fire and keep this momentum going because something great will come out of it."
