Blue & Gold Fund Surpasses $200,000

NEWARK, Del. – The Blue & Gold Fund, Delaware athletics' campaign to support its 21 varsity programs and 600-plus student-athletes during the financial challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, has now passed the $200,000 mark thanks to an anonymous $50,000 commitment.
The generous gift comes from Double Dels who are longtime football season ticket holders, and is the largest gift to the fund to date.
Our athletic department, much like others across the country, is navigating a historic financial challenge with the COVID-19 pandemic limiting opportunities for revenue. Despite the difficulties of the current climate, our mission remains the same: to support our more than 600 student-athletes as they compete at the highest level, excel in the classroom, and represent our community.
The University of Delaware is a special place because of the strength of the Blue Hens family. Generous gifts such as this help us provide that transformational experience to our student-athletes. To date, over 450 donors have contributed $200,175 to the Blue & Gold Fund, filling 8,007 seats in our Virtual Sell-out.
