Hens Come Up Short at James Madison, 69-64
3/1/2020 5:36:00 PM | Women's Basketball
HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Blue Hens fought until the end but came up short in Sunday afternoon's 69-64 loss to James Madison in the last-ever game at the JMU Convocation Center.
Delaware jumped out to an early lead and led, 13-4, after 10 minutes of action. The Dukes regained composure in the second quarter to take a three-point advantage into the halftime break and carried that momentum through the third. Down by as much as 14 in the fourth, the Blue Hens fought their way back to come within five, but it was too little too late.
Nicole Enabosi led Delaware once again this season and finished the game with 24 points to move into third place all-time in Blue Hens history with 1,639 career points.
Samone DeFreese added 10 points while Jasmine Dickey and Paris McBride each had nine points on the day. Dickey also contributed a game-high 12 rebounds.
POST-GAME QUOTES
Head Coach Natasha Adair
"We fought hard today. I don't want to highlight this as a moral victory, but at the beginning of the game in the locker room we talked about respect, and there's so much that goes with that word. Wearing Delaware across our chests and representing the Blue Hen Family is an honor. It was about earning it today, and I felt like we competed for sure. From start to finish. But again, we have to take this momentum. And we have to bring it back to the Bob and close out regular season and into the conference tournament. We have to be consistent and I think that's been the key word for us this year – consistency. It's March and everything goes as everybody's jockeying for something. And so are we. I was proud of our fight and I was proud of our competitiveness. But we need to build on this and be better."
