NEWARK, Del. -Â Inspiring Greatness Together.
Â
It's the University of Delaware standard and that was on display again on Wednesday with the NCAA's annual APR report, which saw 10 programs earn perfect scores in 2018-19, the second-highest total in program history. Â
Â
The CAA was tied for third among the nation's 32 Division I conferences in the latest overall Academic Progress Rate for the 2018-19 academic year, which was released by the NCAA on Tuesday. CAA schools achieved a combined APR of 989, which was well above the national average of 983. The APR included data from the 2015-16 academic year through the 2018-19 academic year.
Â
"Our student-athletes, coaches and staff work extremely hard on and off the field and having 10 programs earn perfect scores is an outstanding accomplishment that we are all very proud of," Director of Athletics and Recreation Serves Chrissi Rawak said. "Achieving success academically is of the highest priority and it's evident that the effort being put forth is helping us reach our goals academically."
Â
The 20 Blue Hen varsity athletic programs posted an average multi-year rate reaching above 987, the highest in program history. The national average was 983.Â
Â
"We have high expectations on and off the court for our student-athletes, coaches and staff and the progress that we have made in recent years has been tremendous. To achieve some of the highest numbers in program history is a testament to all their hard work," Director of Student Services Tim Morrissey said.
Â
Last week, the volleyball and women's tennis programs were recognized with the NCAA Public Recognition Award, which is given to teams with APR's in the top 10 percent of each sport.Â
Â
Achieving a perfect 1000 score in 2018-19 were baseball, men's tennis, women's basketball, cross country, women's lacrosse, softball, women's soccer, women's tennis, track & field and volleyball.Â
Â
The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performances for each team in every sport.
