NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware Athletics, in conjunction with Delaware State Parks, will hold a Virtual 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run the weekend of September 18-20th to allow UD alumni, fans, faculty, staff and students from around the country to show their Blue Hen spirit and win prize packs.
Participants can register by visiting BlueHens.com/Virtual5k. Deadline to register is the end of the day on Sept. 17.
Registration fee is $10 for one participant, and $5 for each additional participant registered together. UD undergraduate students can register for free. The registration fee is a donation to the Blue Hen Strong Fund established to address the urgent needs of our UD students facing unforeseen hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each participant will receive a virtual race bib to print, a certificate of completion, and a discount offer from Delaware State Parks.
Participants are encouraged post photos or videos of their run with their bibs on their social media accounts using #BlueHensRun and must fill out the completion form after they complete their race for results tracking. Acceptable submissions will need to include a screenshot from Strava, MapMyRun, Apple Watch, or any comparable app that shows date, time and distance traveled. A photo of your treadmill and screen is also acceptable.
Participants will be separated by age group and will have 48 hours to report their results via the Google Form including name, distance, time and a photo. A virtual leaderboard will be available at BlueHens.com/Virtual5k after the race weekend.
The winner of each age group, plus two participants chosen at random, will receive a prize pack consisting on both UD Athletics and Delaware State Parks items and merchandise. Enjoy the run!
