NEWARK, Del. – Delaware women's basketball cruised to a 79-67 victory over UNCW Sunday afternoon inside the Bob Carpenter Center, marking the Blue Hens' eighth straight win and fourth straight sweep of a Colonial Athletic Association series.
Delaware improved to 11-1 overall and 8-0 in CAA play with the win. This is the best 12-game start for the program since the 2011-12 team went 31-2 overall, and the best start to CAA play since the 2012-13 went 18-0 in the conference.
Junior guard Jasmine Dickey led the way once again for Delaware with a game-high 26 points, knocking down 11 of her 12 free throw attempts. Dickey has scored in double figures in 14 consecutive games stretching back to last season, and has notched at least 20 points in nine games this year. The Baltimore native also grabbed 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.
Junior guard Jewel Smalls stayed hot, knocking down four of her eight 3-point attempts and tying her season high of 16 points that she set in Saturday's 73-66 win over the Seahawks. The transfer from Western Carolina filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, four steals and an assist off the bench.
Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle recorded her CAA-leading ninth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Dickey's four double-doubles rank second in the conference.
