NEWARK, DEL. – Delaware football sophomore punter Tyler Pastula has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Special Teams Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. The award recognizes his performance in Delaware's 17-10 victory over Dixie State on Saturday.
Pastula punted four times in Saturday's victory, averaging 43.3 yards per punt. He had three second-half punts that averaged 45 yards, including a long of 51 yards. Three of his four kicks pinned Dixie State inside its own 10-yard line, helping the Blue Hens win the field position battle in a one-score game. Pastula's punting helped force the Trailblazers to an average starting field position of their 19-yard line.
For the season, Pastula is leading the CAA with 42.2 yards per punt. He has 10 punts of at least 50 yards and has pinned the opponent inside their 20-yard line on 19 occasions.
The Blue Hens return to CAA play next weekend when they welcome William & Mary to Delaware Stadium to wrap up a three-game homestand. Kickoff on Saturday, November 6 is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tickets for that contest, and both of Delaware's remaining home games can be purchased HERE.
